As we were walking home after playing in the river for more than an hour, my nephew Isaac, who was riding in the stroller, called out to me, "Aunt Teresa, I love you." Those three little words carried such meaning and heartfelt love. They were not said because Mommy or Daddy told him to say them. They were said out of a genuine heart as a result of time spent together. What struck me in that moment is how I felt upon hearing those words from my four year old nephew. It hit me that just as I much as I loved hearing those words, there is a heavenly Father who desires to hear those words from His children. Those three little words mean so much when they come out of a relationship that involves spending quality time with another. I asked myself, "How often do I stop and say 'I love you' to my Lord Jesus Christ?" I ask you, "How often do you say 'I love you' to your Lord Jesus Christ?" I encourage you to take a moment in prayer and to just love on your savior for there is no one greater, no one higher, no one sweeter than Jesus Christ.
"We love Him because He first loved us." I John 4:19
Recently, I had the opportunity to take care of my Roanoke nephews and niece whilst their parents headed out for a date night. We had a great time - feeding ducks and geese, playing in the Roanoke River, watching a movie together, reading some books, playing with blocks and I am sure there was more that we did. Here are some pics from our time together.

I am an educator of children with disabilities who has a focus in autism and in systems-change for public school divisions. My weekends are also full spending time working in an outreach ministry in downtown Roanoke. I find all of my work has kept me very busy. So, I am attempting to slow down for even just a little bit and focus on those things around me that God has created for His and our pleasure. Archives
